Music major Maddie Taylor is looking forward to a summer internship with the LA Philharmonic and plans to go to grad school to write movie scores. She's a piano whiz who enjoys playing guitar, secretly, in her room and for her friends.

Tattooed singer Jared Cross has a new girl every week, but when he catches Maddie playing one of his songs, she attracts his attention in an unexpected way. When his band (including brother Kyle and drummer Hector) needs a replacement guitar player for The Sound, a reality TV show competition — and he wants her. Throwing her internship away, Maddie joins the band, secretly reveling in taking her private guitar-playing public.

As Jared and Maddie are thrown together during the intense 6-week filming of the show, the two are drawn together. Suddenly Jared is ignoring other women and focusing solely on Maddie. But Maddie knows what Jared is capable of and doesn't want to be another notch on his bedpost. Vowing to stay away from Jared as much as possible, Maddie finds herself in his arms.

As the competition heats up, Jared will do whatever it takes for his band to win, and Maddie must decide if following her dream is worth losing her heart.

I loved this novel. As a former music major myself, I love anything music-related, and I found all of the characters in this book 3-dimensional and relatable. The author does a great job detailing the story as well as throwing in some HOT scenes between Jared and Maddie.
